Kogi Oil – Lives Were Lost Before Kogi Got Declared Oil Producing State

Four persons lost their lives before Kogi was declared an oil producing state.

They’ve been described as the Ibaji heroes. They put their lives on the line to secure the oil rich Kogi land from the grip of Anambra people.

The clash involved the people of Odeke-Echewo Ibaji in Kogi State and Aguleri-Otu in Anambra State.

Lives were lost, people got injured and properties destroyed.

Kogi State Becomes the First and only Oil Producing State in Northern Nigeria

4th July 2014, Four persons were reportedly feared dead, following a renewed battle between Aguleri warriors of Anambra State and Echeno/Odeke of Kogi.

Following the announcement that the state have been declared an oil producing state, some concerned Ibaji Indigenes under the roof of Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation (IPYF) are calling on the state government to first pay tributes to the fallen heroes of Odeke-Echewo communities.

Because they didn’t concede defeat to the Anambra people during the struggle.

According to the spokesperson of the group, Ojodomo Unekwu “without them, there won’t have been oil in kogi State.”
