Benjamin Ojima hails from Kogi state, Nigeria.
Over the years, BuyPower have helped millions of Nigerians to pay electricity bills from the comfort of their homes and offices.
Ojima started working as a computer software engineer in 2009 while in the final year in university.
Since then, he has lead different software engineering teams in building ground breaking products including Payporte and others.
In 2016, he and his co-founder launched the website, buypower.ng, a digital bill payment platform in response to the challenges they observed around electricity payments in the Capital city of Abuja, Nigeria.
Less than five months of executing that idea, as a result of the explosive traction experienced; BuyPower got funded by one of the biggest Micro Venture capitalists in the world called YCombinator which has funded multi billion dollar companies in the world like Dropbox, Airbnb, Stripe e.t.c.
BuyPower Inc. was the first company in Northern Nigeria to be funded by the prestigious YCombinator.
He went to further raise capital in 7 digits in dollars for BuyPower Inc from Venture Capitalist Firms and Angel Investors in Silicon Valley California.
Ojima and his team sees Buypower as a Unicorn product that will stand the rest of time.
He continues to relentlessly execute BuyPower and has grown to processing transaction volumes in billions monthly servicing several hundreds of thousands of customers in less than 2 years.
Ojima is passionate about using technology to solve local problems and advises startups in his spare time.
