Federal University Lokoja Employs 60 Hunters To Boost Campus Security

The management of Federal University Lokoja said it has engaged the services of 60 hunters to improve with campus security.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, disclosed the information on Monday at a press briefing to mark the start of the school’s fifth convocation ceremonies, which begins on Monday, November 8 to and on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

Professor Akinwumi said the constant abduction of university staff in different parts of Nigeria led to the move to employ hunters. He added that students would not be allowed into their hostels until the school is satisfied with the security on its premises.

He said, “The management of this institution will not toy with the security of students and staff of the university. We have seen what happened just recently in some tertiary institutions in the country where professors and their children were kidnapped on the campuses.

The VC of Federal University Lokoja also added that the hunters were brought on board to complement the efforts of the Nigeria police and that of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in providing adequate security to the staff and students of FUL.

He also disclosed that 804 students would be awarded with various degrees and postgraduate diplomas, while eminent personalities who have contributed to the development of Nigeria would be conferred honorary degrees.
